-
completion of a screening questionnaire, designed to highlight any medical issues that might be deemed significant -
a full physical examination (including height, weight, blood pressure etc.) -

testing of ears and hearing -
selected additional tests, for example spirometry (lung function testing), ECG, urine analysis, exercise testing
How long will the medical take?
Usually no more than 45 minutes.
How long is the ENG 1 medical valid for?
The maximum validity period for the ENG 1 certificate is 2 years (or 1 year in those under the age of 18). A certificate of shorter duration may be issued if there is a medical reason to do so.
What if I wear glasses or contact lenses?
If you normally use contact lenses, please DO NOT wear them to your appointment, as your vision must be tested without correction. Wear glasses instead. Do bring your contact lenses along so that your corrected vision can be tested as well.
